Hope everyone has been having a great Passover (if that's what you're celebrating), or had a great Easter (if that's what you just celebrated).
A few brief news items on tap:
According to reports, Israel has proposed to free jailed Palestinian terrorist Marwan Barghouti in exchange for the release of American spy prisoner Jonathan Pollard. No word yet on whether the U.S. has accepted the deal, but certain camps within Israel are strongly against it. While Pollard absolutely deserves to be freed, Barghouti is a convicted murderer and will likely jump right back into terrorism if given the chance. A much better swap, according to a Haaretz editorial, would be Pollard in exchange for some secret documents relating to the case.
Mark Steyn is still at it. After wrongly claiming that Muslims will take over the world through natural increase (I have demonstrated his theory's inaccuracies here and here), he now presents the idea that they will do so by religious conversion. Most of us won't be able to read the full article, as it's available only to National Review subscribers, but one thing is certain - Steyn has missed the mark again. According to the World Christian Encyclopedia, the text considered the gold standard for religious statistics, Muslims are actually losing the conversion race, and this pattern looks to continue into the forseeable future.
Victor Davis Hanson on why certain retired generals are mistaken in their criticisms of Donald Rumsfeld and the war in Iraq.
More to come in the next post...
Happy Passover and Easter!
