Some time ago, I mentioned that I wanted to publish many older pieces of information that were intended for this site but for various reasons never appeared.
Some have remained quite relevant, and so I'd like to include them here:
Back in January, National Review's James Robbins explained precisely why we cannot ignore Iran's threats. The situation with North Korea has only confirmed this. Meanwhile, the mainstream media's continuously negative reports on Iraq cannot be viewed through a vacuum; as Dr. Samuel Blumenfeld reminded us, as terrible as the loss of any single soldier is, the American armed forces have remained relatively unscathed compared to virtually all previous wars.
Of course Iraq does remain a challenge, although not for the reasons Democrats claim; in writing about Hamas's electoral victory back in February, WorldNetDaily's Ben Shapiro likens Iraq's problems to those of the Palestinian Authority: Hatred and Islamic fundamentalism.
Meanwhile, on the domestic front, leading Democrats are proposing to repeal President Bush's tax cuts if the party assumes majority congressional status in November. But as Sen. Bill Frist explained earlier this year, this can hurt not only taxpayers, but the government itself. Anyone want this particular double whammy? My vote certainly doesn't. You'd never hear this from the liberal media, though, who overwhelmingly focus on reporting bad news only. The article explaining this, by the way, while excellent only scratches the surface of the problem; for an in-depth discussion, check out Bernard Goldberg's book Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes how the Media Distort the News.
Finally, here is a blog that was intended for a Blog of the Day: Starboard. Perhaps fitting for this outtake post, the site appears inactive (it hasn't been updated since May). The content, however, is still excellent.
Well, that's all for now...expect more outtake posts in the near future (there's a lot more where this came from), but I plan to resume regular content shortly.
